FLUORIDE TREATMENT
Gingiva Bacteria that produce acid which gathers around teeth cause dental caries. This acid develops a sticky surface on teeth called plaque. Without good daily oral hygiene and regular dental visits, teeth become more vulnerable to periodontal disease. Plaque can be removed by brushing and flossing between teeth or using another type of interdental brush. Regular dental examinations and cleanings are also essential for maintaining good oral health. Fluoride, a mineral that helps prevent dental caries and can repair teeth. There are two types of fluoride in which it can be obtained.
Topical fluorides are applied to the tooth enamel directly. Fluoride toothpaste and mouthwash, as well as fluoride medications, are examples.
Systemic fluorides are those which we swallow. Fluoridated water and dietary fluoride supplements are two examples. When fluoride is used both topically and systemically, the best decrease in dental caries is obtained.
